View Full Version : Suspension Swap Party

Well, it's that time again... I've busted up my suspension again for the 2nd time in 3 years and it's time for another overhaul. The overhaul will consist of tie rod ends, springs and new front struts. My garage is not quite big enough for a full work party, but this might be a good idea for a final meet for the year...

I'd like to do this on Friday night if possible, because I'll be getting new tires and an alignment on Saturday.

I will bring spring compressors (I own a set), and would like to see if there are willing parties interested in hosting the swap. I will provide pizza/food of choice and beverages for participating individuals.

Would anyone be interested in hosting this swap? It should go fairly quickly, as I've done this particular swap twice and it is not really all that time consuming when I have 2 or 3 people helping.

All of my parts are in the garage, except for my Tein springs which should be arriving on Friday.

Anyone interested?

I'm in for helping. I don't have a garage/tools to lend, but I've got two hands. :) Keep me updated on times and such and I'll be there to offer a hand.

Tim, I will be happy to offer my services, although my Garage is out of use...(being as my car is occupying it...lol) Otherwise it would be yours... 8)

Believe it or not, I'd love to do that swap at my house. But... I'm probably gonna be outta town this weekend. It's a 4 day weekend for me. If you don't get to it this week, we could do it next weekend.

I take it that's it's the '01 that's busted since you said you've done it before. What happened this time.

Pics/vids commentary welcome as usual :P

I'm game Tim. I wanna talk to you about WiFi stuff anyways. I can bring by the DWL-520 & external antenna (already in car) and I got the Digi & 2 32mb sd cards, and 6 batteries.. enough to do an entire photoshoot & then some :D

Nothing spectacular, just another set of blown front struts (very common failure on the 01 civics), and one of them is bent I believe... :o It's nothing major, I'm just very hard on suspension even in daily driving. Just like I'm hard on brakes.

Tie rods need replaced, one side is torn from my overuse of a pickle fork and it's condition has continued to worsen.

As for the need for springs... well, I just wanted some stiffer springs.

There you have it. It's drivable, I'm still driving it every day. It's not "busted" officially, but it's in no shape to take me 1000 miles in the next week and a half.

That's OK Robbie, I wasn't fishing for you to volunteer specifically. I'll do it this week, one way or another... waiting until next week is not an option as I am leaving for New York for my vacation on Sunday night (red-eye driving to NYC, yay!)

Have fun outta town, though... sorry if you miss it.

So is it just Honda engines that are uber-reliable?

You need a cross-over cable if you're going to hook them up with one cat5 cable. If you have a hub/switch/router you can use regular cat5 cables.

Sorry for being OT, Cam started it.

I've never messed with x-box's but I am assuming its like any other networked device.

If you are connecting them through a hub/switch/router use a regular network (patch) cable.

If the two are directly connected, you will need a crossover cable.

I could make you one, or they can be bought @ any local store... 8)

Looks like a change of plans may be at hand. My springs are in canada for some reason..

So I'll only be swapping front struts and tie-rod ends from the looks of things. I should be able to handle it out of my garage, and only need 1 or 2 people to do that. If anyone is interested, let me know....

Otherwise I'll be doing it on Friday whenever I get time/tools.
