I just PM'd Davis,

I have been just given a set of Toyo Proxes Fz4 tires. They are size 235/40ZR17 will I have any trouble mounting them? The stockers are 225/45 R17.

What do you guys think?

No, you shouldn't have any problem. Davis just mounted Pirelli P-Zero Neros on his stock 17x7 wheels in 235/45ZR17. You shouldn't have a problem since your wheels are wider.

Yep should be fine. While it might be a tad "rougher" than the 45 series tire, you will get a small perfromance gain. Actually, I really love the 235 width (shoulda come that way stock with the RE's).

I just put on my stock wheels with the Pirelli 235/45/17 on last night. Thru the rain (this morning) they offer insane grip plus that wider 235 patch was appreciated last month in the dry! I CAN feel a difference between the 235 vs. 225..pretty noticable IMHO.

Those FZ4 should be a great all-weather tire, I've heard nothing but good things.

I had on my Falken Azenis in 225/45/17 (stock tire size) on at the AutoX.
