I am in the process of doing a stroker motor in my mustang. It will be like no other. Other plans include minor body mods and new paint. So what it everybody else doing, is there going to be any fast, or faster cars in the valley is coming summer???

When you say it will be like none other, just wondering what that means, cause if you buy a stroker kit...I'm guessing that you aren't the only person who has bought it :P

edit: i'm just messin with ya man....curious as to your setup..of course you dont' have to post it if you don't want to reveal yourself 8)

It is not a kit, it's a custom motor. How many new mustang have you ever seen with a 427 small block?? None in the valley!

Of course none in the mov...we are fairly car limited in this area...how many 2g talons have you seen that are black with white wheels...how many 400 hp civics...none butt if you go to columbus there are like 50...I just think everyone should remember that everything has been done over and over again that's all....there is noone here who is special in the regards of having a unique car.

Props to you though for putting a torque monster in a mustang....what block are you using?

i plan on taking the teg apart over the winter if all my other plans work out on getting a second car, going to redo everything.. and boost it.. if i can get to that after everything else. 8)

I'm rebuilding the Talon back to stock...try to do everything I can with it to make it a good enough daily driver, that way I can build the phuck out of my CRX...300hp and 1900lbs is my goal 8) ..we'll see

I'm using a motorsports 351r roller block. Shooting for 550hp and 575lb torque.

NOT trying to offend anybody, but why is it that 85% of import(ricers) are all show and no go. Granted not all mustangs or cameros are fast stock, but they do run respectable. There are some imports like your evo's, wrx's and srt4 that run good, but most of the time you pull up to the light and there is some kid with fart can 2500 stickers and a wing and he's got a racecar! It does give the performance minded guy/gals a bad rep. Hell I'm guilty of it. Maybe it's the aftermarket doing it. Somebody, shed some light on the subject.

You just stated everything I have bitched about in the past.. for the most part it's younger kids that do the hacked off exhaust with a can welded on, an like 500 stickers, then they think they have a race car cause they grew up watching Fast&Furious. An bein as how theres more imports like that then there is done right, that are fast.. there's your stereotype image.

Then you have ppl like that old dood who has the red GSX, an bought a new red Evo an put 'LANCER EVOLUTION 8' across the windshield, and some other gay stickers.. nice job man, i wasent sure if it was an evo or not, but now i know..

Let's see winter projects.. I might actually finish my 87GT? ive got so many other things im workin on right now havent had time to even look at it let alone work on it

I'm reletively new to the forum, but I have noticed that even most of the import guys (or as naste95 put it "ricers") on this site are more interested in go over show. I think that the reason most of those kids with the fart cans and stickers do what they do because of the media, like Fast and the Furious and Super Street, but also, most kids don't have the money for a good project car, and especially don't want to/can't do all the work.

When money is an issue, that is no excuss. There is a thing called tasteful. To me(IMO) a car has to have "the look", most ricers kids think the more shit they pile on the car the better and more "furious" it will appear. Granted the guys on there seem to be performance minded. With owning a mustang, well mustangs are a dime a dozen, if your car has the look it will stand out. And this is true with all cars. I just have a hard time realating to imports, because I know very little about them and there stereotype image!

I think this is true of alot of people. We need to edyumacate these people instead of making fun of them.....small rant...

Anyway....I am building my car....internals/new turbo/engine management/etc.

Should be a beast..... 8)

exactly I agree, you can make a car look tasteful with little exterior mods and keep it in mostly stock form. I think most of the imports if not all on this forum are geared more toward performance. What really pisses me off more than anything is the moronic import haters that hate cars just cause they weren't designed in america. I know quite a few imports semi locally (columbus/cleveland) that would stomp all over 500 hp mustangs all day long. There is always going to be something faster, and I think you should give credit where credit is due, whether it's a 500 hp mustang that runs 11's or a 300 hp civic that runs 11's...hell even a 140 hp import that FTD's at an autocross. :D

Jay
11-30-2004, 04:20 PM
eh.. the money they spend on gay stuf like stickers/bodykits/huge wheels/half ass exhaust/an other misc. crap they could have actual performance parts.. fact of the matter is most kids would rather look 'what they tink is cool' than have something that is.

Mustangs have just as much potential of being gay as imports do.. what would you think if you seen a 93 cobra with a ton of stickers on it rollin on chrome 18" wires w/homie chrome trim, and type-r badges?
lol

narfdanarf

Speaking of upgrades, I just received my Hondata s200 w/boost option, obdII--->obdI conversion harness, and chipped ecu....

I need to do some soldering on my factory harness first, since I removed my Vafc. Patch that little mess up before I can install my new setup...

My pistons/rods are on the way to drop my compression down to 9:1.

Another guy is making me a new turbo manifold, equal length for a T3/T4 setup.....

Looks like I am on the right track.....

My spring project is pretty mild.
Coilovers
sway bars
Stage 2 Cobb kit (TBE, engine management)

Yes, there's some pretty cool projects going on. If you are doing a project, please take some pics during the project (heck I'll take em for you if you don't have a digi cam) you'll appreciate the steps you took along the way and will look back at the fun and frustration you had. Plus it would be cool to see the pics here on movfast.

Most of my year-end bonus, tax returns and just extra cash will probably be going toward adding a few extra rooms onto my house. My car kicks quite a bit of arse already. ha ha

Well... my plans for dropping 500 in aftermarket BPU (basic performance upgrades) was shot to h3ll when I hit a deer early Thanksgiving morn. Now I have to get a new radiator & fan, and header panel (the piece of metal in front of the hood), and a new right pop-up headlight. Each one of these items is nearly 100 bucks, and the radiator is 180. >.< That sucks.

I had intended to:

Repair the Parking Brake Cable (pking brake system)
Replace Front Struts with some nice KYB's
Replace Rear Shocks "" "" ""
Replace ALL Stock Bushings w/ Hard Neoprene RED ones including
--Lower A-Arm Bushings Front & Rear
--Front Sway Bar Bushings & Mounts Front & Rear
Inspect & Replace as needed Inner/Outer Tie-Rod ends.
Potentially install aftermarket ADDCO Sway Bars Front & Rear
Inspect & Replace as needed Rear U-Joints
**(I've got this ticking when gently accelerating coming from the right-rear. Only under gentle acceleration, hard accel or deccel it's not heard.)
Replace Stock Brake Rotors w/ Slotted ones
**(YES I DO need these, I've experienced brake fade in my old 84 Celica, and my 85 Supra (both had disc front & rear brakes). Usually it's under extreme braking, coming off a ridge @ high speed and braking hard for turns @ the bottom, and coming to a stop @ a stop sign slowing down from 100+mph in about ~300 yards)
Yank Rear Seat
Remove stock Airbox & install freer flowing Aftermarket
*cough*Install a Test Pipe for Testing Purposes*cough*
Install Front & Rear Strut Tower Braces
Replace ALL vacuum hoses on the engine

Professionally Install my Car-PC back into the car
Design & Fabricate custom (fiberglass) enclosure for 2 12" subs, Mids, & Highs, as well as enclosure for Amp, and PC, & vented case for battery. Design & Fabricate custom enclosure for head unit, DVD-ROM, LCD, Scanner, & Two Way radio, as well as digital LED volt & ammeter guages for both stock & PC electrical systems. This is going to incorporate a slide-away/hide-away LCD mount. Design & Fabricate custom speaker enclosures to go near the feet area of the doors.

Longer Term
Research & deisgn a 1/2 roll-cage for the car
This would be a 1/2 cage, with the roll-over bar behind the head-rest, horizontal brace between the two uprights, and two braces tying the upright to the rear frame "rails" (which are non-existent in a uni-body).

Possibly including braces that run forward and down towards the feet of the driver/passenger.
Keep an eye out for some NICE racing seats
NICE as in just like my Supra Seats, 5way adjustable, with capability to use a 5-point harness. Yes, overkill I know, both the roll-cage and the 5pt harness & seats, but.. I LOVE my car, I will own this thing till I die, unless I total it first.

Oh yeah I forgot to mention, gutting my car from the drivers seat back, except the plastic pieces that cover the framing, those are pretty light.

I agree that a lot of people in the import scene are show and no go. I just think it costs a lot more money for go than show when it comes to imports because basic bolt-ons don't really do much to your n/a imports, not talking about evo's, wrx's, etc. You usually need some sort of swap/supercharger/turbo setup to really make a difference in your go. So some people just take the cheaper route and rice out their car for some odd reason. Off this topic, but since when is an SRT-4 considered an import? Just wondering.

My winter projects are kinda light as well.....just put a new 6 piece headlight kit in the car, get some treads for my cobra R's, new convertible top, some minor motor work, and some interior resto type work...hard to tell what else i will be workin on....

My winter project, eh?

How about keeping my car on the road? I think that's project enough.
If the money comes my way, I'd like to build a custom ram air intake through the bumper. Most of the "good" performance mods for RX-7s involve rebuilding the engine (I'm an NA guy, no forced induction for me). But for what I'm doing, I'm going to go through tires and brake pads like a hot knife through butter... I'm learning to drift. So I guess my winter project is to scope out an S4 NA LSD to jam in there so I can drift correctly.

On the show vs. go note... There is a time and a place for wings and stickers and body kits. The street is neither.
