I'd like to find a trunk lid from a Lancer without a wing to go on my car. Where should I look locally? Any good junk/salvage yards around worth visiting?

Double post > yUo.
Why not take your wing off, weld the holes, sand them down and have it sprayed...prolly be cheaper than buying a new one, and you could learn some body work...
Its what I would do...
Its going to be hard to find a wrecked Evo b/c they are so new..b/c thats your only option, they aren't old enough to have ones that just "broke down"...
Heck, once I get my welder, I will do it for ya....(xmas present)you would have to have someone paint it, b/c I don't have the equipment or experience yet.... 8)
Edit: there is always a c/f trunk....even paint that if u wanted to.... 8)

First off, I want to be able to swap trunk lids when I'm feeling mature/ricey/light weight/original/make wife happy/etc..
Second, I said Lancer, not Evo, for a reason. The trunk lid is one of the body panels that is interchangeable between the Lancer and Evolution VIII. That should increase the likelyhood of finding one.
Thanks for the offer to fill the mounting holes. I appreciate it.

i think it will look kind of goofy the wing give the car character now its just "normal" lol (excuse my crappy paint job i don't have "Blue By You" in paint)

do they make normal lancers in that same blue, cause if they do, i'm sure there's some kid out there whose parents bought him a lancer, and he really wanted an evo... You may even be able to make some $$ on a trade.

i like it a lot without it, the only problem with a trade is that Robbie wants to swap it out from time to time...though I can't imagine why?

Robbies delving into the world of street racing and wants to swap out his Evo characteristics to make it more of a "sleeper"..... 8)

Why not take your wing off, weld the holes, sand them down and have it sprayed...prolly be cheaper than buying a new one, and you could learn some body work... thats what i planned to do for the neon, but everyone said(bodyshops) that it would be so much cheeper to buy a used one out of a junk yard.. because like you said the holes have to be welded shut, then sanded down, and then repainted... and i doubt robbie would want to chance his body work skills on his evo..
But for some reason i think i have seen a lancer wrecked somewhere but i can't think of where, im thinking it was yellow, but il keep an eye out for one robbie 8)

Body work isn't hard, just takes patience...great thing about metal is that if you mess up, you can always fix it....wood on the other hand isn't as forgivable.... 8)

I say go for it. Dish out the $300-600 for a carbon fiber one. You only live once. Assuming the EVO lid isn't aluminum already, that is.

It really isn't too hard, i'd say welding is the hardest part. With my car, my cousin got rid of a lot of rust, and "shaved" the rear emblems. I think I could've done it with some guidance.

Im so used to seeing the evos with wings that it kinda looks strange w/o one...I would stick with the wing since it is supposed to be there and your car is actually fast enough that you can use the wing to generate downforce unlike so many of those 17 second sleds around, but what do i know i drive a ford.....
you 'drive' yours? I just kinda push mine to an from work.. lol

Anyone gonna actually suggest a place to look for one or are we just gonna keep discussing it? I'm looking for a good junkyard.
