Few those of you that don't know...google is in beta testing for there own email program called gmail. (http://www.gmail.com)

Its very cool, and each person that signs up, gets a certain amount of invites. Well when I signed up back a few months ago, I received only 2 invites. One went to the next person on the list and one went to Justin. Well now it seems I have a few more.

So if anyone wants a great email program on the net, post your email address and I will send you an invite.

All I ask is that you actually use it and not hoard different email addresses.

That is all.

4 up for grabs.

shared drive... umm NO. Remote storage.. maybe but a hassle

You can store files in/on your Gmail account, however the maximum file attachment is 10MB anything you have you'd have to Split into chunks.

yeah it's basically it's like adding a 1gb harddrive to you computer, that the biggest file you can put on is about 10mb....then you can access anything you put on that drive from anywhere through your gmail account...i don't really understand where you get that its a hassle?

the upload times & download times.
having to split your files up into 10 mb chunks.

I consider that a hassle, I'd rather just use my USB Flash Drive.

yeah except I don't have a USB drive...gmail is free and the upload times are not that big of a deal if you have good connection

I get 2GB with Yahoo, and don't have to worry about them snooping through my emails, or spamming my friends

Do you pay for it though?

Any email can be "snooped" through by the provider, just a fact of life. Spamming of friends? Google is reputable, I have no reason to beleive they would do that.... 8)

Yes he pays for it. However google has never spammed any of my friends.

How much more reason do you need? That was headline news for their first 3-4 months of beta. Spamming your address book, and reading everyone's email. Anyone can snoop, Google is.

They may have changed their practices since you guys got your accounts, but it was definitely happening.

Why do I need 2G worth of storage? Well, I suppose I don't need it, but it sure is nice. I get a lot of business emails, transcripts from conferences, etc and can accumulate 1GB worth of needed information over the period of 6 months. Now I don't have to decide which ones to delete in order to receive new ones.

Yes, I pay $20/year for my account; $.05/day. I can afford that, and I enjoy the options I'm given with the service, which extend way beyond an increased storage.
