would a Non-Vtec integra such as a Ls have as much potential as for example the Vtec GsR ? Because im really looking forward in getting and integra but i don't think im going to be able to find a Gsr with the milage i want ( low miles/less Driver abuse) around. ive talked it over with some of the guys tonight about some options i have found which they seemed to frown on, which i was thinking the same thing about them cars just needed some back up thoughts, Examples the 97 Gsr with 47k miles for 8,700 kinda cheap so prolly something wrong, And 8,500 for a 96 Ls with engine swap H22a Which isnt a recomended Motor for and integra. So more or less Im looking to get a low milage integra Ls Or Gsr but probably not.... so back to the Question would a Non-Vtec integra such as a Ls have as much potential as for example the GsR???↕

Is a GSR the same as a Type R? If so the engine isn't the only difference!

No, the GSR and ITR are different cars. The GSR has a B18C1 w/ 170hp while the ITR has a B18C5 with 195hp. The ITR also has upgraded suspension and swaybars versus the GSR. ITRs are also lightened.

A stock RS/GS/LS (I don't recall when they stopped making the RS and GS) Integra has a B18B1 ('94-'00) engine w/ 142hp. This engine is a good boost engine or a VTEC head can be installed creating a LS/VTEC which is a fairly common procedure that is also well documented online and in many magazines.

Swapping the physical head isn't as easy as just "swapping" them. More involded, with drilling and plumbing a line for the vtec solenoid. I suggest two things.

1. Read alot. Visit alot of Honda forums, ask questions and do many many searches.

2. Ask RallyEx, he has experience with this sorta thing....

Good look...just don't expect it to be done overnight... 8)

lol...I called ya back but you didn't answer, so here is your reply. You didn't drive past an Sir...you drove past an Ex with a Sir sticker. He is a volunterr Fire Fighter for Vienna. I don't know him, but I have seen his care alot. It looks clean, he has wheels and altezza's, and it looks lowered I beleive, maybe has a muffler...I don't remember.

This is the Canadian model Civic SiR, which is basically the same as the U.S. 1999-2000 Si but with ABS and heated side mirrors.
In 1996, American Honda dropped the Si badge and called the top of the line Civic model the EX (127hp SOHC VTEC D16Y8 engine). Honda Canada continued to use the Si badge for the exact same car (127hp SOHC VTEC D16Y8). I would guess that Honda Canada looked at the fact that the '92 to '95 125 horsepower D16Z6 Civic Si coupe was essentailly the same car as the '96 127 horsepower D16Y8 coupe (the engines are almost identical) and decided that the Si badge should stay.

When Honda decided to bring the DOHC VTEC 160hp B16A2 Civic to North America, American Honda ressurected the Si badge, while Honda Canada used the SiR badge, since they were still selling a Civic called the Si.

So for 1999 and 2000, Canadian Si = US EX, Canadian SiR = US Si. The same is true for the new 2002 and later civic hatchback - the Canadian model is the SiR, and the US model is the Si.

That should explain it. 8)

Ok may have found the solution to my Neon Replacement problem. I just found here in marietta, its an 92 integra Ls, with 161k miles on it. He says hes never had a problem with the car since he has had it besides A ignition Coil or something"which goes out in integras often" i don't remember really and the drivers side window isnt working because of back connection in the switch. It has, a True Cold air intake with Bi-pass valve, And a Exhaust i gotta be a ricer , he just recently lowered it, put new struts and springs on it. replaced Carpet. He wants 3,200 for the car which i can afford because im selling the SloCar soon for 3,800. SO Guys tell me what you think.

Drive it and see what you think. You never know until you take it around the block. I would try and work with him on the price by a few hundred *b/c of high milage*. In my opinion if he is willing to work with you, shows that he wants the sale.

Good luck...btw the mods including the intake and exhuast give that car close to .01 whp. 8)

A couple of thing s first SiR, hahahahahaha damn ricers and there $3 Autozone decals. Also the Honda purest know real Si's are hatchbacks (sorry Adam) but Honda screwed that up for a couple years. And lastly if I ever got a Integra with a B18A1 I would never do a VTEC swap on it i would leave it as is a build the heck out of it the "Frankenstein" swap has its problems and if you ever go boost the nonvtec will give you an easier time in tuning. Personally if i was looking for a Integra and wanted "VTEC" and didnt find a deal on a ITR then I would get a 2nd gen with a B17.

If you want, I can come out with you and help evaluate the car...I don't have much experience with Tegs but a Honda is pretty much a Honda. Shoot me a pm if you want me to come along

I was looking on auto trader and there were several GSR's 1994+ that were between $4,500 and $8,000 (within 200miles) not to mention numerous Ls models (and RS). If I were to buy an integra it would be 1994 and over...if possible...plus the mileage on most if not all don't exceed the 160k that the 1992 Ls has....neway juss a suggestion...

I'll leave my opinions out of the whole thing, as I'm sure I know who you are buying the car off of.

As far as the VTEC conversion goes, it's not terribly difficult nor is it extremely easy. Some of the more major things required are the head (of course) with all components including VTEC solenoid and switch and all that jazz, distrubutor, ECU... blah blah blah. Let's not forget the $80 cometic head gasket as well as drilling the dowel pin holes in the block for the head to sit on properly. You have to put a tee connector on the back of the block where the oil pressure sending unit is and run a line from that to the back of the head to an oil port. While the head is still off the block, you also have to plug the original vtec oil port for good measure.

JDM, y0!

I am not much into putting decals on my car of things that don't exist, but hey...each to there own. As far as the Ls/Vtec swap, as long as its done right, should be ok. Tuning is tuning. Unless you are tuning it yourself, which I doubt you will be unless you have a dyno hidden in your garage, let the tuner worry about it. On a normal street driven Honda, Vtec LOVES Boost....trust me, this I know!!! 8)

I took it on a 30min drive today around marietta. it handles like no other i love It :D. Im gonna get it later this week probably if all goes thru. So you guys can see it saterday. I don't want to go thru pburg with it so lets go back to point park, since it has been lowered. Hes throwing into the deal 4 drilled rotors. And a sanded down valve cover so i cant paint it to match car. Im so excited :D .Also on the motor i think im gonna stay non-vtec.

** found out today i got a broken coilover on the left front, because of that pburg construction . Note to mov. Watch them Bumps they are killer.
