well does anyone know how to get windows to recognize my 250 gb hard drive as a full 250? ive already gone and updated the bios and ive checked the regestry to see if it support lba and it does is there something else i can do maybe?

thats something i never knew how to fix.. i had that 80gig in my Hp and it only would read 73gig i think... :?

Fdisk it and format it as Ntfs..... 8)

Fdisk it and format it as Ntfs..... 8) thats what i do everytime to my harddrives when i install windows,it never fixed the problem for me..

I know! Put the hard drive in a mac... it'll be recognized then.. :)
Linux will recognize it, also. ;)

lol i fixed it i downloaded the maxtor software for it and it did it all for me :-) thought fdisk only supported up to 137 ?

Well it depends on how old the computer you are using is. Older computers won't detect anything above 137 out of the box. XP wouldn't either, you'd have to use a driver to get the rest of it done. Sliptreamed w/SP2 it works fine now. No drive will ever be the exact size as labeled though. It has something to do with the way the bites are broke down, cluster size, etc. I forgot how one of my teachers tried to explain it once, but it was a bunch of bullshit.
